POIbase - What are POIs?

The term "POI" (short for "Point Of Interest") is mainly used in the context of navigation systems and route planners.

POIs are places of special importance for sat-nav users. These might be, for example, shopping centres, restaurants, petrol stations, banks, and tourist information – but also permanent and temporary speed cameras and other danger spots.
